Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

York Conferences is a subsidiary company of the University of York. All our profits go back into the University in order to help develop the facilities for research and education.

The University has several schemes underway to strive towards becoming carbon neutral and the Heslington East project (doubling the size of the University) prides itself on encouraging sustainable development.

Sustainable principles underpin the University of York’s £500 million campus expansion. It is a visionary development featuring quality building in each of which we aspire to achieve an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating, with a minimum of ‘very good’. The 117-hectare expansion on the eastern edge includes measures to ensure more efficient use of energy and water, and the further reduction, reuse and recycling of waste. The University is also developing a combined heat and power plant, as well as investigating the feasibility of using wind power, to meet the energy needs of the entire campus.
